New Doll Patterns

This past weekend I released two new patterns into my Etsy shop: the Beginner Doll Pattern and the Mini Mermaid Pattern.

Both are available for only $5.50 and both are perfect for anyone new to sewing. Both are quick projects that can be completed in under a few hours.

The Beginner Doll Pattern began with a concept for a doll that was easy for new sewists, that didn't require any pesky ladder stitches or complicated pieces. I had an idea for a doll whose whole body was one piece, needing only a front and back piece to sew together. She's easy to stuff too as long as you stuff her as you sew. Her face is simple, requiring only a pair of safety eyes and a few back stitches. The only complicated part of her design may be her dress, which requires seam allowance but no hemming. Even then, it only requires back stitches in the right places to create.

The Mini Mermaid came from my love of mermaids and the desire to make a doll that could be sewn up really quickly. She has a bit of a quirky design, with her tail slightly too big for her body. She also has buttons in place of a bra or other mermaid top. I think she turned out really cute and I'd love to see how other people put their own unique spin on her design!
